Michael Withiam is an active community volunteer, an accomplished writer, editor and journalist, and a part-time teacher. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the United Way of South Hampton Roads, where he is also Vice-Chair of the Community Funding Committee.
His writing credits include more than four years as a newspaper reporter, feature writer and columnist, several articles for magazines and business publications, and several local and regional magazine articles. He has also created and hosted live television and radio news and public affairs programs in both the United States and Canada. He recently edited the debut novel of author Michelle L. Johnson, The Footloose Killer.
As a teacher, Withiam has developed and taught undergraduate and graduate level courses at several colleges, including courses in Business Communication and Writing, News Writing, Principles of Marketing, Intro to Public Relations, and Sports Marketing. He most recently taught a series of workshops focused on non-fiction writing.
Michael has donated a First three chapters critique of memoir/narrative nonfiction.
